Animals
    by Kylie Pitt
Some animals are furry.
Some animals are not.
Some animals can scurry.
Some animals can trot.
Some animals are real.
Some animals are fake.
So what’s the big deal?
They are all loved for goodness sake!

My Teacher
    by Kelsey Heffernan
Waiting in the hallway for my teacher to come out
Once she lets us in we run and shout!

Eager to see my teacher’s daily letter,
          Everyday they get better

          The teacher of my dreams,
               Teaching me to read.

It’s just so good I can’t believe it’s happening to me!

The lunch bell rings I yell “hooray.”
We can’t be late for lunch today!

We eat our lunch as quickly as can be!

We hope recess will never end.
So we can play with our friends!

I get to the classroom and what do I see?
My math lesson waiting for me!

After math we get our snacks, that we eat everyday!

S.Q.U.I.R.T. time comes when our day is almost done,
I read my favorite book.  I have lots of fun!

I get my coat and jacket and say “goodbye.”
I wish I could stay at school forever,
But I have to catch my ride.

Lost in Life
     by Daniel Girardi
After 99 days
     of swimming free,
     of swimming wild,
     of swimming deep,
After 99 days of salty water,
I finally found some land.

After 52 days
     of walking far,
     of walking down,
     of walking long
After 52 days of miles of land,
I found a human being.

After 22 years
     of living with him,
     of laughing with him,
     of crying with him,
After 22 years of life in his house,
I left on eagle’s wings.

After 19 years on eagle’s wings
     of flying around
     of flying so free.
After 19 years on eagle’s wings,
I finally found my way home.

After millions of days
     of life so sweet,
     of life so dear,
     of life so sheer,
After millions of days,
Away from my father’s house
I finally found my life.
