Mission Statement
The mission of the Kinnelon Library is to encourage learning and support discovery for Kinnelon residents of all ages by providing access to library materials, programs, technology, and the Internet, while expanding community access to services through digital collections and mobile technology.
Policies
Internet Policy
The Kinnelon Public Library has adopted the Internet Policy of the Morris Automated Information Network, Inc. (M.A.I.N).
M.A.I.N. is pleased to offer access to the wealth of resources on the Internet. We would like to remind the users of this service that: some or all of the resources may be unavailable at any time for technical reasons over which M.A.I.N. has no control. Library personnel have no control over quality of information on the Internet. Each user must consider the validity and reliability of information found. Parents or guardians, NOT the library or its staff, are responsible for Internet Information selected and/or accessed by their children. Some materials may be offensive, disturbing and/or illegal. Library personnel do not monitor or supervise Internet access, except for length of time of use. The library reserves the right to end an Internet session. Please be aware that viewing child pornography is against the law N.J.S.A.2C:24-4(4)(b).
Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Kinnelon Public Library May 16, 2007.
Safe Child Policy
Children under age 10 must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult, at all times, in all areas of the library and on its grounds.
Unattended children under 18 are free to utilize the library as long as needed, provided their behavior is not disruptive to other patrons or staff members. Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior on library premises. It is not the library’s responsibility to provide child care. Those unattended minors who do not abide by library policies, or who exhibit unacceptable behavior, will be asked to leave and/or call their parents for a ride. If they are unable to reach their parents or if a ride does not come, the police will be called.
Staff will wait with your child if he or she has not been picked up at closing time. If a minor is left more than 15 minutes after closing time, the Kinnelon Police Department will be notified. The police will follow their procedure for keeping children safe.
Approved March 16th, 2005 by the Board of Trustees of the Kinnelon Public Library.
Patron Conduct Policy
Patrons shall engage in activities associated with the use of a Public Library while on Library premises. These include reading, studying, accessing information from electronic sources and attending library sponsored programs or other meetings. Patrons shall respect the rights of other patrons and shall not disturb, harass or annoy others.
